At Ridge Smile Dental Clinic, our dentists perform a wide variety of oral surgeries to treat oral health issues and protect the health of our Ridgetown patients.
What is Oral Surgery?
Oral surgery involves the diagnosis and surgical treatment of injured, defects and diseases in the soft and hard tissues of your face, mouth jaws and teeth.
While it is our goal to always use the least invasive treatment method possible to correct a given oral health issue, sometimes less invasive treatment options will not be sufficient and oral surgery will be required.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a titanium screw that functions just like a natural tooth root. Our dentists place implants into your jaw bone as part of procedures to replace missing teeth and restore your smile. Dental implants, alongside, tooth replacements like bridges and crowns, can look and feel very similar to a natural tooth.
Frenectomy
A frenectomy is a procedure undertaken by your dentist to eliminate the frenulum. This is the small piece of tissue which connects your tongue, cheeks and lips to your gums. Our dentists perform frenectomies to adults, children and babies when their frenums are restricting their normal function. This condition is often call tongue-ties, cheek-tied or lip-tied.
Tooth Extractions
While it's always preferable to save a natural tooth, there are some cases where it's not possible. If a tooth is too badly damaged as a result of decay, gum disease or injury, it may need to be removed by your dentist.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of a normal adult's mouth. If wisdom teeth are causing problems for your oral hygiene, your dentist may recommend removing them to help preserve your oral health.
